VERITAS The Secret Chatbot Holding the Future for Apple’s Siri

Reports indicate that Veritas is a ChatGPT-style chatbot that Apple has developed for internal use only, pending its testing phase. It appears that this will revolutionize the AI that Apple has been using for a long time.

Veritas Advancements

Over the years, users complained about no advancements in Siri as it was behind in the market, but it looks like Apple is finally improving. “Veritas” comes from a Latin word, meaning truth. Apple has programmed it to be a conversational AI as compared to the monotonic Siri, where Veritas can engage in a back-to-back conversation, can access personal data on applications like calendar, emails, photos, etc., to provide users with personalized answers, and can generate in-app actions like editing the pictures or files – based on the user’s demands. It can also revisit past conversations and provide the user with a follow-up answer.

Veritas Users

Apple has introduced it to its AI team and Apple employees only. They put it to personal and professional use to test it. This enables Apple to refine its AI in a controlled environment, thereby avoiding public missteps, particularly in matters concerning user privacy and data protection. It allows engineers to upload stacks of data to test whether it can generate responses of big data within a given period of time.

Public Response

Apple has faced criticism and repeated setbacks when it comes to artificial intelligence because Siri seemed to be outdated compared to others in the market. This constant setback resulted in a very muted response from people when they announced their next-generation Siri. On top of that, they pushed their virtual assistant’s revamp multiple times.

With all the advancements, Apple still has no plans to release Veritas for its users. Mark Gurman reports that Apple not releasing its chatbot in the market might be a misstep, considering they could revamp Siri’s generation faster with consumer feedback to overcome its shortcomings, further slowing down Apple’s AI existence in the market.
